BLOG CANDY

As promised I am back tonight with Blog Candy. I was trying to come up with a question or topic for the comments to enter to win the blog candy and was having a difficult time, then it hit me. I am so blessed to be able to realize my biggest dream which is being able to own my own business. Along the way from little girl to adult, the business has changed, from restaurant, to bakery to scrapbook, but the core dream has not. I love people, I love to be around people. I get this from both my mom and dad but mostly from my dad. As many of you know he passed away in September of 2000 so I have been thinking a lot about him with this anniversary right around the corner. My dad's passing actually got me started in scrapbooking, wanting to remember him and also creating gifts to sell to raise money for the American Cancer Society Relay for life. My dad was the greatest, he could make friends with anyone, from the homeless street beggar to the President of the United States. He was a friend to everyone he ever came in contact with and he never met a stranger. A lot of people tell me I am like him and I always reply "thank you". Being told that is such an awesome complement, I know he would be proud of me being able to make my dream come true. Getting back to the blog candy I am going to give away a Basic Grey 12x12 Collection Pack (an $18 value) of your choice and a Precious Scraps Christmas or Halloween kit from Teresa Collins (a $5 value). The Teresa Collins/BIA kit is described in the previous post. So, here is what you have to do to become eligible to win. Leave me a comment about a dream of yours, be it one you still have, one your have realized or just a silly thought that you know will never happen. Be honest though and really give it some thought. I will announce the winner on Friday Evening. Have fun and share your dreams..............

Ok, you said it can be a silly thought that will never happen, so here's mine - I want to meet (and marry) Michael Phelps, LOL!!

Seriously, my dream is to find the man of my dreams, whoever he is. Someone that will support me and love me no matter what, who will be a wonderful father and who shares my faith in God. Here's hoping!

My dream would to be able to quit my job and stay at home with my children. I have a 23 month old and a 3 month old and it was so hard taking them, especially my tiny baby to day care today!

What a great way to remember your dad. The loss of our good friends son also got me started scrapbooking.

My dream is to visit Ireland & Scotland with my husband for a super long vacation. One of my favorite authors has painted such great pictures of those countries, I am ready to explore.

Bev - I absolutely Love the way you talk about your dad. I love my dad, but not the same way; he really is nothing like your dad is, so it brings me joy to hear how beautifully you see him (he reminds me of my husband, he could go into a room full of strangers and know them all at the end of the night :-) Anyway, my dream, well I guess it would be to finally get the house of my dreams complete with enough land to need a ride-on lawn mower :-) so my kids can explore, and a gourmet kitchen for me to experiment!

Bev, I'm glad you found scrapbooking as a way to preserve your precious memories of your father and those you love. :-)

I'm still working on my dream of having the loving husband, the house with the picket fence, little ones playing in the yard with the family dog..... My bf has been mentioning marriage a lot lately and we've begun looking at houses so I'm hoping I'm on my way soon. (I hope I didn't jinx myself!)

Beverly- what awesome blog candy, you rock! My dream.... hmmmm... my dream is to find away to help the poverty stricken kids that I work with see their full potential. I have been at for quite a few years now and while I think I have saved a few there is still so much work to be done.

I have 2 dreams.

The first is that someone finds a cure for Pediatric brain tumors. I have a brain stem tumor which are mostly found in children. The stories about children with brain tumors rip your heart out. No child should have to go through what these childen do and then most don't make it in the end.

My second wish is that my child remains healthy for the rest of his life (happy too).

Love the story about your Dad.

Bev, I couldn't agree more. Being able to pursue one's dream is probably the most rewarding thing anyone can experience.

I was able to get the chance a few years ago. My dream was to start my own business in web design. And my hubby was very supportive in helping me get started. I've since decided to let things go, which is sad. But it's something I'm glad I had a chance to try. Otherwise I would have always wondered what could have happened.

Best of luck with your new business!

Thanks, Bev, for sharing such great memories of your Dad. I, too, am involved with Relay for Life and know how touching and special this event is for so many people. Thanks for volunteering!

Now, my dream...hmmm. This is a tough one. I don't have a specific dream, but I would just love to make a living at something that I am truly passionate about. Such as crafting! Whether that is to have my own business, or design for someone who does, it wouldn't really matter. But all things considered, I am fortunate to have a great family that loves me, my own home, and good health. That is really all I need.

Beverly, I'm so happy for you that your new business is getting off the ground. How exciting for you.

My dream...I wish for my DH to make it back safely from Iraq and to never have to go back again before he has to retire from the Army (another 8 years so I doubt that will happen). I also wish for my boys to grow up healthy and happy and to become wonderful young men.

My dream...to someday own a cozy bungalow, work only part-time and have the time to do all the craft projects I have bookmarked. gotta keep buying those lottery tickets!

Beverly - I imagine I know how you feel - when I read your post you could have been talking about my dad. I miss him loads, and for a very long time the way things worked out for him meant that my biggest dream was to be around till my kids were big enough to look after themselves.

On a lighter note tho' I often wish I had a larger house, I don't think my 18 month old son will be as happy to share a bedroom with us when he's 18 years old!!

By the way, I respectfully exclude myself from the blog candy draw on the grounds that I've already received a wonderful gift from you. Many thanks Beverly.

Hi Bev, from another Bev. Congrats on your dream coming true and getting your store off the ground.

I had always thought I would like to have a nice family cafe. My sister and I have talked about it but now think time has run out as we are both older now and it is a lot of time/work running a cafe. The dream was, and is nice, though.

Congrats again on your store-hope all goes well for you.

My dream was to get married and live a very wealthy, glamorous life, have healthy children, and stay home. Well, my dream mainly came true. I did get married, not alot of money, I could have only 1 child which I adore, and because of my disability progressing thru the years, I do get to stay home. In my dream it was much more glamourous, but you take what you have and make it the best, and I am truly very happy with my life.

How wonderful you must feel to have been lucky enough to have a Father like yours.

What we remember about our family members who have passed on will be within our hearts forever. Today, the 28th is the anniversary of my sisters death at the age of 21. It has been 20 yrs. since she went into Gods hands. Alice

My Dad died in 2006 after fighting cancer for two years and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him!

As for what did/do I dream about? I used to want to be a prima ballerina. But since I took tap, that was out!

A current dream of mine is to have my house completely remodeled all at one time. Instead, we can only do it a room at a time and a little bit here and there. It seems like we just get done doing one room and we are back at the first room we started with!!

Thanks for the opportunity to win!

One of my dreams.........I have so many..........is to own a vacation home for my family. I would love my kiddos to have a safe and loving place to take their own families once they are grown. I want a place that has beautiful scenery, outdoors, cozy small town, and a huge open kitchen and family room. A great place to play games, watch movies, bake cookies, and just enjoy spending time with one another. Maybe one day my dream will come true!:)

Thanks for sharing your Dad with us.

I like the new blog look.

I don't know if I have a long term dream - I think I have a achieved that with my marriage, but for a short term dream it is to be even more involved with stamping and creating and my other short term dream is to be able to add on to our house and give us just a bit more space.

This is such a hard question for me. I feel like I have so many dreams, but I don't want ALL of them...I just want something wonderful and exciting. I think the one that I will share with you today is that of living outside of the US. My husband and I both would love to do this. Even better - would be if we could live outside of the US and do humanitarian work or something great for the world in general. I have smaller dreams like owning my own lss, going to culinary school to become a pastry chef, or becoming a contributing editor to a scrapbook magazine, but I think the dream of leaving this country for bigger things is on the top of the list. I want to do something wonderful!

My dream used to be to own a 4 bedroom house, so I could have my own craft room. Well, we moved into our 4 bedroom house in July. Now my dream is to own a house just like this one but back in Seattle, where we just moved from. I can't believe how much we all miss our friends.
