Goody's Going Out of Business.......Precious Scraps Going In..........

Our local Goody's, as well as others around the US, is going out of business and Precious Scraps is going into business.........well, I guess you could say we are growing. I have had a Home-Based Business for a year and a half now and it has grown considerably. My husband Larry and I decided to take it on-line but the process has proved more daunting that we initially thought. We are still working on the process so it will come, it may just take a little longer than we expected. Hopefully within 3 months or so. We made another major decision......................... We are opening a Retail Store. We have decided to build so it will take some time but we will be breaking ground this year. Wow, that scares me just typing it. So many decisions to make, how much square footage, what type of building, what to stock (that's the fun part) and many, many more decisions. I have appreciated all of your input on an on-line store and welcome the same for a retail store. I will try to meet all of your wishes as you have some great suggestions.

One of the things we have out of the way for the coming store is our fixtures. As I said above, Goody's is going out of business and we have taken advantage of that. We have purchased enough fixtures, tables, and shelving to probably stock 3 stores. Several of my dear friends on the Papertrey Ink forum have asked for photos so this is for them. We may or may not use all of these but we have them just in case and I don't have to purchase new (expensive) displays.....

These are actually not from Goody's but from a video store that went out of business. I purchased 3 of these. The shelves are on both sides and ends and are adjustable. I am thinking great shelves to display 12x12 paper.

These are Nesting Tables from Goody's. I have 3 sets of these. I think these will be good for display tables and cropping area tables. They are the perfect height to put paper trimmers and such on in a work area. They are very sturdy and all maple finished.

This (left) is a four sided slat board display unit (on wheels). I purchased 4 of these as well as all the hooks that go on them. They will be used for everything and anything. I love these, they were my favorite find. Below is another unit that I purchased two of, again slat board. These need a little TLC but will work beautifully.

This unit is two sided and has eight red shelves that go on each side. I have 3 of these units. They also came with bars that go across the length that I can use to hang things on if I don't want to use shelves. I figure I can change these out as merchandise changes. I really like the red and maple together. (see those white shelves leaning against the wall to the right of the red unit, we bought over 100 of those. Don't ask me why so many, I think my husband wants to build some storage sheds or something of that nature).

This is a photo of the maples shelves I bought for the store as well as the red shelves for the unit above. the red shelves are curved around the front edge. We also have some red shelves like the white ones above. All together, maple, red and white shelves, I would say we have over 250 shelves. A bargain is a bargain and is hard to pass up. You may see an ad for shelves for sale............... I MUST give a shout out to my darling husband who has worked tirelessly over the past 3 weeks and making numerous round trips loading and unloading all of this. We are both exhausted. I love you honey.

And last but not least.....................

Here is another Goody's find. The first day my husband and I were there I looked over and saw this shirt. I HAD to have it. It was only a week after Papertrey's July Release that included the wonderful stamp set Wise Owl by Alli Miles. I love this set and can't wait to use it. This shirt made me instantly think of my set of stamps.

Ok, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed looking at the pics and are excited as I am about the future of Precious Scraps. Thank you for all your love and support. Beverly

An Award

I received an award (although I am not quite sure why, I am not worthy). I got this award from my friend Michele . She is always up to something good at iamderby.blogspot.com She is super talented and such a sweet person with an awesome since of humor! I am suppose to play along and name 7 other people to receive the award. So, here is who I pick:

1). EVERYONE !!

I am sorry but there is NO WAY I can narrow my list to 7 people. I did this once before and I still fret over whether or not I may have hurt someones feeling by not including them. I love all "my girls" at PTI so I would have to put all of them on my list, then there are a few others in the "blog world" that I would have to include. So, if you come to my blog include yourself as getting this award from me and play along.

Getting Acrylic Paint out of Clothes.....

The discussion of the Krud Kutter.................

Some friends and I have been having a discussion about how to get acrylic paint out of clothes and I mentioned my favorite "all purpose" cleaner Krud Kutter. I use this for everything, as a laundry spot remover, to clean my floors, to clean the tub, grease remover, etc......I could go on and on. It is hard to find in some areas (I get mine at Lowes by the gallon jug, it is also available at Wal-Mart) so a few people were wondering if it really works. So.......here is my experiment for your benefit......

I put green (because you will be green with envy over my Krud Kutter) Making Memories Acrylic Paint on an old white T-shirt. Ok, so I didn't put it on there, I poured it on there. I let it dry for 2 hours, my husband is a witness...

Then I sprayed the spot with Krud Kutter and wet with cold water and gently worked with a soft bristle toothbrush, rinsing and repeating as necessary (it took me 3 rinses)

And .........................................................................

I think my experiment was a success. So get shopping ladies....(this experiment or testimonial was in no way sponsored by Krud Kutter....lol)

NOTE: In answer to the questions about using it on colors....I have used it in the past on colors but as with a cleaners I would say it depends on the fabric and dye set. I have not had any problems but you want may to test a small inconspicuous area before proceeding.

We have a winner...............

BLOG CANDY WINNER .....................

Super Blog candy Bev! I love your shipping department! To answer your question, I have always been a crafter of some sort, just never saw me as a stamper until two years ago. My littlest wasn't even a year and I felt like my brain had turned to mush. I hadn't scrapped in over two years at that point and as much as I wanted to, it just stressed me out. But stamping cards and projects gives me immediate gratification and I get to use my brain! Thanks for the opportunity to share!

BLOG CANDY..........I know you want to win this !

ToTe-Tally CooL Tote and A FREE SET OF PaperTrey Ink Stamps................

Yes, that's right. You could win a medium size Tote-ally Cool tote from All My Memories in Brown and Pink as well as a free stamp set of your choice from PaperTrey Ink. If you are not familiar with PaperTrey Ink stamps you are missing out in life. Their stamps, as well as all their other products, are awesome. From the design to the quality and everything in between, you will not be able to find a better acrylic stamp. You can select any stamp choice, other than this months coming release, and receive it and the tote for free just for leaving me a comment about why you enjoy paper crafting, whether it be scrapbooking, card making, or altered art. I love it because of many reasons but I guess the main one is it relaxes me. I began scrapbooking because I saw someone else's book and I feel in love with the idea of keeping those memories alive forever. I realized that by doing this it brought me a peace like no other. I have a chronic illness that flares up under stress and this was just what the doctor ordered. When I get in my space and begin a project, I just get lost. I am so at ease and peaceful. Like I said though, I could name 100 more reasons what I love this art but we don't have time for that, we have blog candy to give away. Please leave 1 comment per person to be fair to everyone else and a winner will be chosen Wednesday, July 9th at Midnight just in time for the new release countdown to start at PaperTrey Ink. The stamp set will be your choice, if it is not available at the time, you have the option to wait until it is in stock again or choose another set.
